The materials used for tying NORTH COUNTRY SPIDER PATTERNS (also known in North America as SOFT HACKLE FLIES) have rarely changed over the past 300 years - Pearsall's silk, feathers from game birds such as Grey Partridge, Snipe, Woodcock and Grouse and others including Hen, Heron herl, Golden Plover, Starling, Brown and Tawny Owl - plus fur for dubbed bodies such as hare's mask and mole.

Also, in addition to patterns for both Brown and Rainbow Trout, there are flies suited for Grayling - both dries and wets, again tied to traditional recipes such as FRANK SAWYER'S Killer Bugs tied with just GENUINE Chadwick's 477 wool and wire - and many OLIVER EDWARDS patterns such as his Deep Diving Shrimp.
